The International Women’s Society was founded in 1957 in Lagos by a group of International public spirited women.
Women are one of the most powerful agents in bringing about world change. When women are educated, healthy, and safe, they hope, they empower other women, lift up their families, their communities, and the world.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S SOCIETY, NIGERIA AT A GLANCE
The International Women's Society was founded to work for the advancement of women of all races, and to encourage and develop the common interests of women.
Its aims and objectives are:
A. To foster and promote international understanding among all people;
B. To work for the advancement of women and children in Nigeria
C. To help and provide cultural exchanges for women of all races in the area of home making, children, social welfare, health, home finance and education.
D. To discuss problems affecting the various communities in Nigeria;
E. To endeavor to establish relations with similar organizations in Nigeria and other countries.
F. To aid worthwhile welfare and charitable projects;
G. To encourage and develop the common interest of women.
The society is managed by an Executive Committee, whose members are elected on a yearly basis at it Annual General Meeting. The President of the Society heads the Executives. IWS also has six Trustees who are appointed in recognition of their contribution.
Women of all nationalities who are interested in joining the society and who are also willing to serve in any area of work are welcome.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
IWS is joining women around the world to celebrate IWD’s global theme of #BalanceforBetter which is a call-to-action for driving gender balance across the world.
In solidarity to our fellow women all around the world, we have decided to host an online Photo Contest honour all our phenomenal women who have to juggle so many activities to create the perfect balance in our day-to-day lives and still go on to achieve to achieve great things.
To participate, pls go online and read about the theme: #BalanceforBetter, take and post a picture of yourself in the theme's pose on your Instagram feed and tag us International Women's Society, Nigeria - IWS. The best pictures will be featured on our page and gifts will be given to the lucky ladies. Entry closes on Monday 11th March 2018.

IWS Nigeria 61st AGM ushers in the 62nd President and an EXCO mostly of a younger generation who will bring to the table a contemporary perspective to keep the train jetting forward.
