The International Women’s Society was founded in 1957 in Lagos by a group of international public-spirited women.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
To foster and promote international understanding among all people.
To work for the advancement of women and children in Nigeria.
To help and provide cultural exchanges for women of all races in the area of home-making, children, social welfare, health, home finance and education.
To endeavor to establish relations with similar organizations in Nigeria and other countries.
To aid worthwhile welfare and charitable projects.
To encourage and develop common interest among women by stressing similar outlooks and problems.
The Society is managed by:
A Board of Trustees;
An Executive Committee headed by the President;
Executive Committee elections are held yearly at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Skills Centre, Lekki
LUTH Library and a Trolley Service for in-patients at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba
Widows Trust Fund – to enable widows source for and maintain livelihoods
Scholarship Scheme for primary and secondary school students
Ijebu-Ode Home for abandoned children.
Women of all nationalities who are interested in joining the Society and also who are willing to serve in any area of work are welcome.
Prospective members’ attendance of at least 3 meetings to understand the aims and objectives of the society.
First Ladies of diplomatic missions are honourary members.
Members are affiliated to Open Door Association of International Women’s Club with headquarters in The Hague.
Members are to join a committee or project on admission.
Payment of new member joining fee.
Payment of annual subscription dues before AGM.
IWS Fee: Annual Subscription Dues (which includes tea levy of N1,000), N10,000.
Joining fees for new members – N20,000.
IWS T-Shirt: N2,200
IWS Pin: N1,000
LIFE MEMBERSHIP: N50,000
Must have been an active and paid up member for 10 years.
Circulated every 2 months
Contributions from members are welcome.
